This page explains how we handle information collected through our website at https://www.myfamilyresource.com and provides important notices about confidentiality, your health information, and your rights. This Privacy Policy applies to our website. The privacy of information shared during clinical services is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices and applicable law.

Please Don’t Send Sensitive Information Through This Website

Our website forms and email are not secure and should not be used to send protected health information or other sensitive details. If you become a client, we will provide a secure, confidential method for clinical communication.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. When you complete our contact or newsletter forms, we collect the details you choose to share — such as your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we may collect limited technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited — through cookies and similar technologies.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries, provide and improve our services, send communications you request, maintain the security and functionality of our website, and comply with our legal and professional obligations. We contact you only for the purposes for which you provided your information.

Cookies & Analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support basic functionality and to understand how the site is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function as intended if cookies are disabled.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate our website and communications (for example, hosting, email delivery, or form processing), only to the extent needed to perform those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our clients, visitors, or practice. Any service providers who handle protected health information do so under written agreements consistent with HIPAA.

Data Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, consistent with applicable law, including the Massachusetts data security regulations (201 CMR 17.00). However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain the information you submit for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry, provide requested services, and meet our legal and professional obligations. You may ask us to delete information you submitted through the website, subject to any retention we are required to maintain.

Your Privacy Choices & Rights

You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us. You may also request to access, correct, or delete the personal information you submitted through this website, subject to legal and professional retention requirements. To make a request, please contact us using the details below.

Your Health Information & HIPAA

As licensed clinicians, we are committed to protecting your protected health information (“PHI”). When you receive clinical services, we may use and disclose PHI for treatment, payment, and health care operations, and as otherwise permitted or required by law. Psychotherapy notes receive special protection and are generally not disclosed without your written authorization, except as permitted by law.

You have rights regarding your PHI, including the right to access and request copies of your records, request amendments, request restrictions and confidential communications, receive an accounting of certain disclosures, and obtain a paper copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices. You also have the right to file a complaint with us or with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights, if you believe your privacy rights have been violated. We will not retaliate against you for filing a complaint. To request our full Notice of Privacy Practices, please contact us.

Limits of Confidentiality

Clinical communications are confidential, with certain exceptions required or permitted by law. We may be required to disclose information without your authorization when there is reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child, an elder, or a person with a disability; when there is a serious and imminent threat of harm to you or to others; or when disclosure is required by a court order or other legal process. These limits are reviewed with you in more detail as part of the clinical intake process.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost if you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance.

You can ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be able to dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate. For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Email, text messages, and website form submissions are not fully secure and may be intercepted or accessed by others. By contacting us through these channels, you acknowledge and accept this risk. Please avoid including sensitive health details in unsecured messages.

Telehealth

Our services are provided primarily via Telehealth. We use technology intended to support privacy and security, but no platform can guarantee complete confidentiality. We will discuss the benefits, risks, and your consent for Telehealth before services begin.

For clinical services involving minors, consent and information-sharing are handled in accordance with applicable law and discussed during intake.
